Sally E. Shaywitz is a leading expert on dyslexia, known for her long-term neurobiological and epidemiological research that revealed its prevalence, neurological basis, gender differences, and persistence. With her husband, she developed the “Sea of Strengths” model, highlighting the creative and analytical advantages of individuals with dyslexia. Her bestselling book Overcoming Dyslexia (2003; revised 2020) has become a key resource worldwide. Author of over 350 scientific works, she is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine, an AAAS Fellow, and recipient of the “Genius Award.”
